A second brain your assistant can search

Linked notes and half-formed ideas, searchable by the assistant that helps you finish them.

Who it’s for: Researchers, writers and builders who collect more than they can remember.

Stop 2 of 4

Half the value is in what you forgot

A second brain is only as useful as your ability to find things in it, and much of its value sits in notes you no longer remember writing.

Search, then read

The assistant uses search to find notes by keyword, list_files to browse folders, and read_file to open a note in full. It can pull together what you wrote about a topic across months.

Unfinished is fine

Inbox notes, fragments and drafts are all just Markdown files. Nothing needs to be tidy for the assistant to read it.

How to structure the repository

  • Keep an inbox folder for fragments. Nothing needs to be tidy before the assistant can read it.
  • Write up each source as its own note with your own summary, then ask the assistant to compare what different sources said.
  • Map notes that link related ideas help you and the assistant see a topic as a whole.

Setting it up

  1. Step 1: Put your second brain in a private Git repository, synced from the editor you already use.

  2. Step 2: Connect it in Notedigit and assign it to yourself.

  3. Step 3: Ask your assistant to search before it answers: “What have I already written about this?”
