Connect ChatGPT to your notes
ChatGPT connects to a Notedigit repository the same way Claude does: a custom connector pointing at the repository’s MCP endpoint, an OAuth sign-in, and one approval in Notedigit. No client ID or secret to copy.
Before you start
- Notedigit is running on your server and the repository is connected (Check connection passed).
- You are assigned to the repository. Access is per user, per repository.
- You have copied the repository’s MCP endpoint from the MCP endpoint card in Notedigit (MCP client tab).
- Your ChatGPT plan lets you add custom connectors. On Business and Enterprise workspaces an admin may need to allow them first.
The endpoint looks like this
https://notes.your-company.com/mcp/<repository-id>
Note: ChatGPT’s menus differ between plans and change over time. If a label below doesn’t match, look for the option to create a custom connector with an MCP server URL.
-
Step 1: Turn on custom connectors
In ChatGPT, open Settings and find Apps & Connectors. Under its advanced settings, turn on developer mode, which allows connectors to your own MCP servers.
-
Step 2: Create the connector
Choose Create (or New connector). Give it a name you will recognise, for example “Project Knowledge”, and paste the repository’s MCP endpoint as the MCP server URL.
For authentication choose OAuth. Notedigit supports dynamic client registration, so ChatGPT registers itself; leave client ID and secret empty.
-
Step 3: Sign in and authorize in Notedigit
ChatGPT sends you to your Notedigit server. Sign in if asked, then check the consent screen: the repository, the account you are signed in as, and that your browser returns to ChatGPT.
The first time anyone on your team connects ChatGPT, Notedigit marks it as an Unrecognized client. Continue only if you started the connection yourself, then choose Authorize. ChatGPT can now read this repository — and any other repository you are assigned to — as you.
-
Step 4: Use it in a chat
Start a new chat, pick the connector from the tools menu, and ask. ChatGPT can search, list and read the repository’s Markdown notes; it cannot change them.
Every call shows up in Notedigit under MCP connections, with ChatGPT as the client.
